London: Football is the most popular sport in the world, but soon it will also be played on the moon.
Scientists believe that football could be played on the moon by 2035, and the style of play could be different from that played in the world.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) experts have presented an interesting project regarding a football match on the moon.
According to experts, both teams in the match played on the moon will consist of five players and the game will be played in four quarters of 10 minutes each. Players will be given a 20-minute break between each quarter.
Scientists said that players will not wear traditional clothes to play on the surface of the moon, but will enter the field wearing heavy space suits with a cooling system installed inside.
The responsibility of supervising the match will not be on humans but on virtual assistant referees closer to referees. That is, hologram referees will be seen running on the pitch and virtual red and yellow flags will be shown.
Experts believe that the duration of matches played on the moon should be halved to ensure player safety.
A 20-minute break will help the team refresh as well as repair equipment.
